Former AC Milan star Sandro Tonali is set to move from Newcastle United to Tottenham.

Widespread media coverage in the UK when the news broke on Wednesday night.

Newcastle United said to have knocked back bids of £75m and £90m from Tottenham, with a £100m deal eventually offered.

All along it had been reported that Newcastle United were insisting on a £100m deal and Spurs forced to accept they were going to fail otherwise.

Sky Sports saying their information is that it is £92.5m guaranteed transfer fee and then £7.5m extra in ‘achievable add-ons’ for Sandro Tonali.

The broadcaster also reporting that Sandro Tonali will get around £15m per year in wages at Tottenham, a weekly pay of more than £275,000.

When Sandro Tonali left AC Milan for Newcastle United it was in a £55m deal and his former club Brescia getting a cut of close to £4m from the transfer.

Now AC Milan themselves are set to bank their own bonus cut now Newcastle United are selling to Tottenham.

Last month, Italian journalist Matteo Morretto stated that AC Milan would be getting a bonus €1m (approx £860,000) solidarity payment if Newcastle sold Tonali this summer.

However, Milan News have now reported that their information is that AC Milan will bank far more than that, thanks to the £100m deal Tottenham have agreed.

Milan News reporting: ‘Sandro Tonali’s move from Newcastle to Tottenham is a done deal. The London club paid a monstrous €116 million. The former AC Milan player, who will earn €10 million net per year for six years, has become the most expensive Italian player in football history. Of this €116 million, AC Milan will receive a 10% share of the profit plus a solidarity contribution , for a total of around €10 million (approx £8.55m).’

My feeling is that this new report from Milan News almost certainly has substance and that AC Milan will benefit far more than that previously reported smallish solidarity payment.

However, as is the nature of these things, Milan News probably exaggerating the claimed amount AC Milan will receive. My guesstimate is that it will be around £5m AC Milan could eventually receive, with 10% of the sale profit being around £4.5m and then the solidarity payment taking the total to just over £5m.
