Sunday morning brought news that Newcastle United had reached agreement with Benfica on the transfer fee to sign Amar Dedic.

A compromise £29.5m deal reported to have been agreed between the two clubs.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international turns 24 tomorrow (Tuesday) and has 31 caps for his country.

Only a medical and the final formalities needing to be sorted.

The £29.5m deal will bring Amar Dedic from Benfica to link up again with his old boss who managed him at RB Salzburg.

Amar Dedic will be the first Matthias Jaissle signing of his Newcastle United era.

It has already been widely reported that the right-back (can also play on the left side of defence if required) has agreed personal terms with NUFC.

Now he has arrived on Tyneside and is scheduled to have his medical today (Monday 17 August).

Footage has now been released by Sky Sports of Amar Dedic arriving at Newcastle Airport late on Sunday ahead of his medical.

Amar Dedic was born in Austria but already has 31 senior caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina, including playing for them at this summer’s World Cup where he started three of their four matches.

Amar Dedic played 44 competitive matches for Benfica after joining last summer, scoring one goal and getting five assists.

It is no secret that Newcastle United were looking to strengthen the right-back position with Trippier and Krafth leaving, whilst Tino Livramento continues to be plagued by injuries.

Newcastle United desperately needing to add more quality and numbers to the squad with their Premier League season kicking off next Sunday and in 16 days time the transfer window closes.

Amar Dedic expected to now start against Liverpool on Sunday, with the defender set to join in group training once his transfer is officially signed off.
