Newcastle United fans are still awaiting the official confirmation of Matthias Jaissle as the new manager.
Tuesday morning seeing journalists report that paperwork at the Al-Ahli end of things is delaying the formal announcement.
Matthias Jaissle is already at La Manga with the Newcastle United squad for their pre-season training camp.
Now news from Germany that there is a more significant issue for Al-Ahli when it comes to appointing their replacement for Matthias Jaissle.
After Newcastle United agreed to pay £9.5m compensation to the Saudi Pro League club, Al-Ahli believed they had their new man ready to step in.
However, Bild have now reported that Ole Werner has turned down Al-Ahli.
Ole Werner managed Nick Woltemade when at Werder Bremen and the German manager was in charge at RB Leipzig for the 2025/26 season after switching Bundesliga clubs.
Despite finishing third and qualifying for the Champions League, Leipzig sacked Werner.
As a free agent, Bild report that Al-Ahli offered wages of €11m (approx £9.5m) per season to Ole Werner (Bild say he was on €3.7m per year at Leipzig) but Werner has now said no.
Leaving Al-Ahli looking for an alternative when it comes to replacing Matthias Jaissle.
