United’s young stars are travelling to Valley Parade to face Bradford City in the Jersey Mike’s EFL Trophy.
The USA sandwich shop chain is moving into the UK market and with immediate effect they have become the new sponsors of the EFL Trophy.
The (Jersey Mike’s…) EFL Trophy is a midweek knockout cup competition which includes Clubs from EFL League One and League Two, plus an additional 16 invited Under 21 sides from Premier League and EFL Championship clubs with Category One Academies.
The Newcastle United under 21s are competing in the competition and last Tuesday they played away against York City who were third in League Two.
A crowd of 1,835 at the LNER Stadium last Tuesday night saw York City take an early lead, only for the young NUFC stars to pull off an excellent 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Vakhtang Salia, Kyran Thompson and Afner Cá against the League Two side.
Bradford City will pose a tough test to the United Under 21s, the Bantams are currently top of League One.
