The FA have now released an official statement regarding Manchester City and the Premier League.
This of course relates to the dramatic events earlier this week.
On Tuesday the Premier League released an official statement revealing that Manchester City had been found guilty by the independent commission of breaking ALL charges related to breaches of the Premier League financial rules between 2009/10 and 2017/18. They also found that Manchester City were guilty of all charges, except one, that related to non-cooperation with the Premier League investigation.
They Premier League saying that the sham commercial deals were part of a “disguised funding scheme” to the tune of £830.69m!
Manchester City then quickly responded with an official release of their own, predictably claiming yet again that they have done nothing wrong and denying their guilt on all 114 charges.
The Premier League had stated that Manchester City have the right to appeal the independent commission’s findings and had until today (Friday 2 October) to do so.
As we await news on that appeal, The FA have released their official statement on the Manchester City case: “The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate. As proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club remain ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage. We will, however, continue to monitor developments closely.”
