A Manchester United approach for Lewis Hall has now been made public.
Sky Sports reporting this on Friday.
The broadcaster says that Man U made an approach for the lifelong Newcastle fan two weeks ago and United instantly knocked them back.
Sky Sports stating: ‘Newcastle United have told Manchester United that full-back Lewis Hall is not for sale this summer, after an initial enquiry was rejected. Manchester United are looking to strengthen at left-back this summer and 21-year-old England international Hall is a player they have long admired. But Newcastle turned down their enquiry two weeks ago, and are in the market to add another full-back themselves.’
The England international still has three years remaining on his current Newcastle United contract the report details.
The broadcaster stating: ‘Sky Sports News has been reporting since March that Hall was among the names being considered by Manchester United for a summer move as they search for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, who has one year left on his contract. Manchester United are currently going into the new season with Shaw as their only senior option at left-back, following Tyrell Malacia’s departure on a free transfer. Manchester United will continue to assess their options this summer as they look to strengthen Michael Carrick’s side with an additional midfielder still a possibility at this stage.’
The veteran Man U full-back has now turned 31 and he’s had more than his fair share of injury issues.
Lewis Hall is an elite player and very unlucky not to go to the World Cup.
Newcastle United fans hoping to rebuild an exciting young team with the likes of NUFC fans Lewis Miley and Lewis Hall at the heart of it.
