Eddie Howe has confirmed that Yoane Wissa will miss Newcastle United’s game against West Ham.
The Magpies travel to the capital on Sunday to face a struggling West Ham, but will be without their £55million striker yet again.
Yoane Wissa is yet to make his Newcastle United debut since arriving from Brentford, with the wait set to go on.
It had been reported that Wissa was unlikely to face West Ham, and Eddie Howe has now confirmed that to be the case.
“It’s definitely not West Ham [for Wissa’s debut],” he said during his pre-match press conference.
“He’s working very hard on the grass. He’s getting the fitness work in that he needs. He’s not close to training with the group yet. Not through injury, but through fitness and making sure we build up his robustness.
“I don’t know when the moment will be that he’s back with the squad.”

Eddie Howe must be careful with Yoane Wissa
Given the saga that came before his arrival and his outstanding record in front of goal, there is a real desperation from Toon fans to see Wissa in action.
The feeling will be mutual for the number nine, with Wissa desperate to repay Newcastle’s faith in him.
However, Eddie Howe must still act with caution despite the 29-year-old’s looming return. After a turbulent summer and a challenging knee injury, the last thing Newcastle can afford to do is rush Wissa back.
There is no need to either. Nick Woltemade is playing very well, while Will Osula has stepped up his game.
While Howe will be eager to see what Wissa can bring to his Newcastle United squad, he will also not take any chances.
