He hasn't lived up to the hype...

Newcastle United take on West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend, and could face Jean-Clair Todibo.

Eddie Howe is looking for a fourth straight win in all competitions as Newcastle United travel to East London.

The Magpies have racked up wins over Benfica, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur since defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

All of those wins came at St James’ Park, and Newcastle now travel to the capital to face West Ham United.

Jean-Clair Todibo set for another Newcastle United showdown

West Ham have been in dire form this season, and they have picked up just four points from nine games.

Nuno Espirito Santo is still seeking the magic formula for West Ham, and he has tinkered with his back line.

One man who could start against Newcastle this weekend is Jean-Clair Todibo, having started West Ham’s last two games.

Todibo is a familiar name to Newcastle fans, having been linked with a move to St James’ Park during his time at Nice.

Paul Mitchell wanted Newcastle to sign Todibo as a backup target to Marc Guehi.

Mitchell’s interest in Todibo was not matched by others inside Newcastle, with Howe seemingly not too keen on the idea.

West Ham won the race, but Todibo has struggled to replicate his Nice form since joining the Hammers.

Todibo certainly hasn’t proven that Newcastle missed out by not signing him, and waiting a year to sign Malick Thiaw instead has paid dividends.

Todibo will now face Newcastle and attempt to shackle Nick Woltemade, and show why Mitchell rated him so highly.

Callum Wilson’s West Ham United role up in the air

Todibo missed out on a move to Newcastle, but Hammers teammate Callum Wilson has a much stronger connection to the Magpies.

Wilson spent five years on Tyneside before leaving at the end of his contract this past summer.

West Ham signed Wilson on a free transfer, but the striker has endured a tricky start to the season.

Reports suggest that West Ham see Wilson’s arrival as a mistake, having realised that he can’t quite lead the attack on his own.

Wilson has struggled for starts under Nuno, and that means he may be left on the bench against Newcastle this weekend.
