Newcastle United have looked unstoppable recently, but even more so in the win against Manchester United at St James’ Park.
After a minor blip which saw Alejandro Garnacho equalise for the Red Devils, a sensational second-half performance saw the Magpies blow their historic rivals away to win 4-1.
A first-half goal from Sandro Tonali was complemented by a brace from Harvey Barnes before Bruno Guimaraes killed the game off and ensured Newcastle United moved up to a brilliant fourth in the Premier League table.
Newcastle have their sights set on Crystal Palace now, with the Eagles travelling to Tyneside to play their game in hand. A win for Eddie Howe’s side would see them move up to third in the table, just a few points off second-placed Arsenal.

Alan Shearer said Newcastle deserved to beat Man United on Sunday, with the club legend hailing their performance in the second half as the difference maker.
With the Magpies ready to go at St James’ Park once again, Shearer has made a big statement about three Newcastle players.
Alan Shearer names three Newcastle United players in his Team of the Week
Newcastle’s record goalscorer is known to name players from his boyhood club in his Team of the Week fairly often.
Shearer praised Tino Livramento and Jacob Murphy for their performances against Leicester City last week and has named the likes of Alexander Isak on several occasions.
This week is no different, as Shearer has named three Newcastle players in his Team of the Week: Dan Burn, Tonali and Barnes.
On his selection of Burn, Shearer told the Premier League website: “Didn’t put a foot wrong against Manchester United as the Wembley hero’s great run of form continued on home turf.”
On Tonali, Shearer said: “A goal and a performance full of energy and class, as the trio of Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes overran Man Utd’s midfield.”
Finally, talking about Barnes’ performance, Shearer said: “Man Utd just couldn’t cope with his energy and skill. Scored two great goals and stayed on the pitch even when his fellow left-winger Anthony Gordon came off the bench.”
Guimaraes may feel hard done by that he was not included in the list after scoring the Magpies’ fourth and putting in a generally solid performance on Sunday.
Newcastle United represented in Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week
Like Shearer, Troy Deeney has been generous to Newcastle in his debut season doing the BBC’s Team of the Week.
Deeney said Murphy was ‘underrated‘ after his brace against Leicester last week. The former Watford striker makes a good point given the 30-year-old’s impressive attacking returns.
However, Deeney only picked two Newcastle players in his Team of the Week, leaving Burn out of his XI but still picking Tonali and Barnes.
On Tonali, Deeney said: “Since he has come back from his ban, the Italian has been frightening. He has been looking like one of the best midfielders in European football. He has everything to his game – he can run, can score, can tackle and his run and finish for the goal was excellent against Manchester United.”
And on Barnes, Deeney added: “Everyone saw how well he did. He stepped up for Newcastle with Anthony Gordon being out. Two good goals, really dynamic, driving past people. Goals always change games and Barnes was excellent.
Shearer disagreed with Deeney, with the former naming both Tonali and Alexander Isak in his Team of the Week after the Italian had been snubbed by the BBC correspondent.
The post Troy Deeney completely disagrees as Alan Shearer makes emphatic statement on Newcastle United ‘hero’ appeared first on Geordie Boot Boys.
