It seems those at Newcastle United shut out the noise despite a frustratingly inconsistent Premier League campaign this season.
On Boxing Day, Newcastle United’s away struggles in the Premier League continued when they lost yet again.
Indeed, Newcastle lost to Manchester United at Old Trafford thanks to Patrick Dorgu’s first half volley.
Eddie Howe’s side did go on to dominate most of the second half but they could not find a way through a resolute home defence.
While it’s not as if Newcastle were awful, it was another desperately disappointing performance on the road.
Who was Newcastle United’s WORST player against Manchester United?
It is difficult to see how they enjoy any kind of meaningful success this season unless they can string some consistent performances together.
Certainly, fans could be forgiven for being frustrated, with many supporters expressing their disappointment on social media.
However, it seems both Howe and those above him won’t have seen it.
Eddie Howe and the Newcastle United hierarchy ignore social media
Following the game, Luke Edwards of The Daily Telegraph took to social media.
He reflected on the fact that Newcastle dominated the game at Old Trafford, without actually creating enough chances to score.
Addressing those on social media who believe Howe is struggling to convince in the dugout this season, Edwards revealed that the Newcastle United manager and those who work above him simply ignore what is written on social media.
Now, it would be surprising to imagine the Newcastle United owners making any kind of decision based on what is said on social media.
I’m fed up of hearing that Newcastle United are on the right track this season – prove me wrong! 🤔
Still, it is interesting to hear that they simply don’t pay attention to it.
Taking to social media platform X, Edwards wrote: “I’m very glad Eddie Howe ignores social media and so do the rest of the Newcastle United hierarchy. Imagine the carnage if the hot takes and knee jerk reactions on here after every disappointment shaped decision making.”
Newcastle United will fail to reach PIF’s target for the 2025/26 season
Owners PIF have some big targets for the season.
After a significant – albeit far from perfect – summer spend in the transfer market, PIF believe Newcastle can qualify for European football this season.
Outside of winning the Carabao Cup, Newcastle’s current chances of that look remote.
While it is a compact Premier League table this season, it is incredibly difficult to trust Howe’s side in any meaningful way.
Signings in the January transfer window would surely boost their chances but, frankly, they haven’t looked right all season.
That does not mean it’s an absolute disaster but the fact that one cannot trust this team is hugely frustrating.
