Here's hoping it doesn't have too much of an impact 👏

Newcastle United are very interested in signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

The 25-year-old has been a thorn in the Magpies’ side this season, scoring twice and bagging one assist in their three meetings.

Newcastle United will be in the market for a new winger this summer and believe Bryan Mbeumo is the right player to hit the ground running in the Premier League and Europe next season.

It is believed that Mbeumo is Eddie Howe’s ‘dream’ signing for Newcastle, but the Magpies must fight off interest from Liverpool to bring him to the club.

Liverpool still want Mbeumo despite handing Mohamed Salah a new deal in April. While they still want to sign him, Newcastle hold the aces with a guarantee of a place in the starting XI there for Mbeumo.

With Newcastle keen on bringing Mbeumo to the North East this summer, fans have taken to social media to voice their opinion on new reports about how the Magpies feel about his price tag.

Newcastle United fans on Bryan Mbeumo’s price tag

On Thursday, it was reported that Newcastle love what Mbeumo can bring to their attack. However, there are concerns over his price tag.

Reports in 2025 have claimed that Mbeumo could cost Newcastle as much as £60m this summer. While it is a fee the Magpies should be able to afford, it may not be one Mitchell wants to pay for one player.

After the claims that Newcastle may not sign Mbeumo, fans took to X to react.

“More than reasonable for someone who puts up the numbers that he does and can cover us when Isak is out. If we can’t meet that figure after 3 windows spending nowt, we might as well just pack up. Expected higher in all honesty,” said one fan, while another added: “Would be an amazing signing for us. So suited to what we need right now. Great player. I really want this to happen.”

This supporter highlighted Mbeumo’s versatility, saying: “He’s literally a RW and second striker cover in one.”

“We’ve spent nothing for 3 windows just pay the price.” said another restless supporter.

Another fan added: “No way we should be dropping 60 or 70 mill on him. Kubo and Bakayoko are around 40 – 50 mill each.”

Finally, this fan said: “Absolutely no chance that Brentford let him go for £60m. How many wingers are there in the world capable of scoring 20 goals a season in the Premier League? £60m doesn’t even get you a Guehi or a Branthwaite these days.”

Newcastle United should pay Bryan Mbeumo’s price tag this summer

There is no hiding the fact that Newcastle are really desperate for more quality on the right wing. Jacob Murphy’s performances in that position have been excellent this season but there will be growing concerns internally about how long the 30-year-old can keep it up.

Newcastle already have a formidable front three with Murphy alongside the likes of Alexander Isak alongside one of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes. However, the Magpies’ front three would undoubtedly become even more dangerous if they signed Mbeumo.

After positive financial accounts and Newcastle’s £73m PSR boost, Mitchell has the capacity to spend this summer. While younger players across Europe is the philosophy, fans are hoping there is capacity for the Magpies to spend on a marquee signing like Mbeumo.

Thomas Frank admitted Mbeumo could leave Brentford this summer, stating that the Bees are a ‘selling club’, much to the delight of Newcastle.
