Newcastle United’s win over Burnley last night has sparked plenty of debate, from whether the performance was good enough, to who the best player on the pitch actually was.
In all honesty, the actual level of performance was sub-par from Newcastle, but they got the win and the three points, and that’s all that matters.

While questions have been asked about Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon in the wake of the game, others have been showered with praise.
Eddie Howe liked what he saw of Lewis Miley, while Bruno Guimaraes was given a rave review from the press. But, it’s Lewis Hall who stands out for the Geordie Boot Boys readers.

Lewis Hall wins the poll, but Joelinton deserves extra credit
In our Man of the Match poll after the game, Lewis Hall well and truly stole the show. At the time of writing, he had roughly 63% of the votes (298 votes) which put him head and shoulders above his peers.
Among the comments praising the full-back, one fan said “Lewis Hall did very well as per,” while another reader added, “More of an attacking threat than some of our attackers.”
Others wrote: “Lewis Hall for me, never gives up and is a real attacking threat.” A fourth said: “Hall is good and SO underrated in the Prem.”
However, we also noticed plenty of love for Joelinton. The Brazilian scored the opening goal to get things moving and the fans have been sure to praise him for that.
One wrote: “Joelinton made a huge difference.” Another added: “Joelinton really did step up.”
Miley and Guimaraes were the other two to get some attention, with 15% of the votes apiece. However, no one came close to Hall, and rightly so.

There’s plenty of love for Hall on social media, too. One fan account said: “I genuinely don’t know where Newcastle United would be without Lewis Hall.”
Another supporter added: “Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley are the future of this club. The only two who can come out of these past few months with their heads held high.”
Others were thinking about the international stage and had a message for Thomas Tuchel, writing: “If Lewis Hall doesn’t go to the World Cup with England then it’s an absolute joke.”
A neutral even added: “Lewis Hall looks like a Lamborghini driving through a small village in this Newcastle team.”
