Newcastle United and Antonio Cordero seem to be on the same page as Spanish clubs line up a move for the winger.

Cordero is struggling for game time on loan at KVC Westerlo, which has frustrated Newcastle United fans.

Indeed, there has long been a perception that the club simply aren’t picking the correct moves for their young players.

Newcastle United’s spending power ahead of the January transfer window. Do you expect PIF to actually make a signing?

Premier League PSR isn’t an immediate concern for Newcastle in January. With UEFA’s equivalent rules, they should be absolutely fine too. If they thought there was good value in the market and wanted to spend £100m-plus, they could do.

Several of Newcastle’s loan players are struggling for game time, which threatens to derail their development.

Cordero, who joined the club on a free transfer from Malaga to much excitement, has only made seven appearances for the Belgian outfit this season and none of those have come from the start.

Antonio Cordero is attracting transfer interest from Spanish clubs

Newcastle are considering terminating Cordero’s loan at Westerlo, such has been his lack of game time.

Interestingly, according to AS, clubs in La Liga are interested in the 19-year-old winger.

The report adds that Cordero wants to play, while Newcastle want to see him continue his development. It’s said that there shouldn’t be any “issues” in terminating his loan at Westerlo.

The chances of playing in Spain from January onwards are thought to be high.

Comment below! The one player who Newcastle United should sign in January is…

Newcastle United have to get their next Antonio Cordero decision right

Newcastle have high hopes for Cordero, so the fact he’s only played 98 minutes of action this season will have been frustrating.

A move back to Spain feels wise at this point. It’s an environment in which Cordero is obviously familiar and it could help yield some sort of improvement out of him ahead of next season.

Newcastle cannot afford to make another misstep when it comes to Cordero’s development.

While still a young player, he’s approaching his early twenties. At some point reasonably soon, the club need to see exactly what he can do.

If Newcastle end the Westerlo nightmare early, there’s still a chance they could save his season.
