Newcastle United have been left to rue selling Elliot Anderson in 2024 as the midfielder goes from strength to strength.
PSR has been a frustrating subject for Newcastle United throughout the PIF era.
It all came to a head in 2024, as Newcastle were forced into a couple of difficult sales.
Yankuba Minteh has attracted Premier League interest since leaving Newcastle for Brighton and Hove Albion, without ever playing a competitive game for the Magpies.
The real blow saw Elliot Anderson join Nottingham Forest, as the boyhood Toon fan departed in an emotional move.
Lewis Miley on former Newcastle United ace Elliot Anderson
Anderson is now valued at £100million after becoming a star for both Forest and England.
The Whitley Bay-born midfielder looks destined to start for England at Euro 2024, and Newcastle will regret losing him.
Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley has now offered his view on Anderson as the midfielder goes from strength to strength.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Miley noted that Anderson was a ‘top player’ even in Newcastle training sessions.
Miley added that he and Anderson are still in contact after coming up through the Newcastle ranks, and he is delighted to see the Forest man shine.
“Elliot’s doing really well at the minute. I trained with him from the academy up to the first team, so it’s a really great thing to see what he’s doing,” said Miley.
“We stay in contact every now and then. But you’re just always a 100mph in football. But it’s great watching him play and see how he’s doing.
“Even at Newcastle, when he wasn’t playing much, he was always a top player in training. Everyone knew the qualities he had and he’s showing that now,” he added.
Newcastle United still hold out hope of Elliot Anderson return
Anderson departed Newcastle less than 18 months ago, but his development means some are dreaming of a Tyneside return.
The Telegraph claim that Newcastle remain keen on re-signing Anderson, though there is no buy-back clause involved.
Manchester United are also interested, with Forest ready to demand £100million – more than twice the price they paid to sign Anderson from Newcastle.
Newcastle splashing £100million on one player seems a little unlikely, and Anderson will certainly have other offers on the table.
Anderson’s love for Newcastle means hope will be present no matter what, but a return will not come cheap.
