Newcastle United’s latest star striker Nick Woltemade will be delighted with this fresh praise that’s come his way after a bad week.
In the defeat against Man United on Boxing Day, very few players showered themselves in glory for Newcastle United.
How much is Nick Woltemade worth now?
The Newcastle United man was included in Sports Illustrated's top 10 most valuable players in the world 😮
Nick Woltemade had been in good form this season but he was one of the players to take a hammering after the trip to Old Trafford.
Troy Deeney wasn’t impressed with Woltemade and thought he was dominated by little Lisandro Martinez. Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand slammed Woltemade’s display, leaving the Magpies man in the bad books heading into the New Year.
But, things may be looking up for the big German after all…

Woltemade deemed tenth most valuable player in the world
According to a list released by Sports Illustrated to round out 2025, Woltemade has been included as the tenth most valuable footballer in the world.
The article says the following about Woltemade: “Newcastle United splashed £69 million on Nick Woltemade last summer inclusive of add-ons, but the towering Germany international is estimated to be worth an extra £43.5 million already—perhaps owing to an impressive start to life on Tyneside.
“At just 23 years old, Woltemade was signed from Stuttgart as an Alexander Isak replacement and the forward’s output has caught the eye since his summer switch. He’s found the net regularly since trading Germany for England, taking little time to justify his enormous price tag.
“Woltemade is certainly not the finished article just yet, but such potential only adds to his value. Whether through his goals or another mammoth sale similar to Isak’s, Woltemade will reward Newcastle for their faith.”
High praise indeed, but we have to say it’s warranted. With nine goals in all competitions so far, it’s safe to say Woltemade has hit the ground running at Newcastle.
He sits behind Chelsea starlet Estevao, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, former Man City man Julian Alvarez, Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz, Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, and Desire Doue of PSG in the top ten. Rounding out the list are Kylian Mbappe (£191.1m), Erling Haaland (£242.5m), and Lamine Yamal (£295.8m).

If Eddie Howe is going to play Wissa and Woltemade together in a 4-2-3-1, which midfielder are you dropping?
Newcastle United have got a real gem in Woltemade
We would say that Woltemade has been Newcastle’s best summer signing, and that £69m is looking like money well spent already. Indeed, given his age and the way he’s adapted to the Premier League, it seems his ceiling is very high.
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is loving what he’s seen of Woltemade so far, and the signs all point to this being a very successful signing.
The only thing is, Eddie Howe needs to use Woltemade properly by partnering him with Yoane Wissa. When he plays on his own, the German looks isolated and struggles to make things happen. Giving him the support and energy of Wissa around him would surely lead to great things.
