Newcastle United will soon discover whether or not they are signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
The Brazilian attacker is set to leave Molineux this summer, with Newcastle United interested in Cunha.
The 25-year-old’s versatility appeals to the Magpies, but they face serious competition for his signature.
Cunha wants to join Manchester United, and it is Ruben Amorim’s side who are firmly leading the race to sign him.
But Newcastle have spoken to Cunha’s representatives, while another suitor is about to enter the conversation.
Matheus Cunha set to make transfer decision
That is according to TalkSPORT, who report that Arsenal are going to speak to Cunha’s representatives about a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are back in the race for Cunha after looking at him in the January transfer window.
They will not have to wait long to discover his decision, with TalkSPORT adding that Cunha is hoping to choose his next club before the end of the season.
There are three Premier League games remaining, with the final fixture set to take place on May 25th.
Manchester United to blow Newcastle out of the water
With so many clubs eyeing Cunha, it will come down to who can offer him the most exciting package.
Unfortunately for Wolves, there will be no bidding war due to a £62.5million release clause in his contract.
While Newcastle United might be prepared to pay that amount for Cunha, they could be blown out of the water in terms of wages.
That is according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, who recently spoke on his YouTube channel about the kind of wages that Man United are prepared to offer.
“I can see why Newcastle were aligned on Matheus Cunha,” he said.
“But my latest information on that is Manchester United are offering him £50, £60, £70, £80,000 more than probably what would currently be on the table at Newcastle.”
As a decision looms, it feels extremely unlikely that the Magpies will sign Cunha.
Instead, Paul Mitchell will turn his attention elsewhere. Newcastle want to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and he could be a more natural fit for this Toon side.
Brentford will listen to offers for Mbeumo, who will cost more than £60million.
