Newcastle United want to sign a new winger this summer after losing two during the 2024/25 campaign.
The right-wing is a position that has always been lacking in depth, despite the PIF taking over the Magpies in 2021. Toon boss Eddie Howe has not been able to sign a player to get rid of the old guard from previous management.
Jacob Murphy has done a brilliant job for Newcastle United as the club’s only natural right-winger this season, scoring eight goals and bagging 11 assists. However, there will be concerns over whether the 30-year-old can continue his form next season.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, a number of wingers have been linked with a move to Newcastle. Bryan Mbeumo is a Newcastle target, with Thomas Frank admitting Brentford are a ‘selling club’, which only means good things for the Magpies.
Amid those links are players further afield, with Paul Mitchell eager to use his experience to sign players across Europe.
Newcastle were heavily linked to one player during the January transfer window, with a move failing to materialise due to PSR concerns. However, it looks like they may look elsewhere this summer after developing their own concerns.

Newcastle United set to avoid Johan Bakayoko talks this summer
PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko was linked with a move to the Magpies throughout the January transfer window, but ultimately stayed in Holland to finish the season and play Champions League football with his side.
UEFA praised Bakayoko after his performance in a 3-2 win against Liverpool in the Champions League, showing he can perform against even the best English sides under pressure.
It was revealed that Bakayoko wants to move to England this summer, with his heart set on joining a Premier League club, despite interest from Germany.
However, it has been reported by Give Me Sport that Newcastle have now performed a U-turn on their interest in Bakayoko after the 22-year-old’s recent form.
After a positive start to the season, Bakayoko has scored just twice in his last nine league appearances, although those two goals have come in the last three games.
The report states that Newcastle are continuing to monitor Bakayoko, but they are keeping their options open as they would prefer their new signing to hit the ground running both in England and in whichever European competition they play in next season.

Johan Bakayoko had unlikely matchup against Newcastle United player this season
There is still time for him to pick up his form and prove why Mitchell should consider him as a great candidate for a move. Bakayoko is valued at £50m, so it is a huge investment for the Magpies to make this summer.
With PSV in the Champions League, Bakayoko has been able to showcase his skills in a competition with the fiercest opponents. However, no Newcastle fan could have predicted who Bakayoko would face at the beginning of the season.
PSV drew Juventus in the Champions League’s play-off round in February and actually came up against Newcastle defender Lloyd Kelly, who is currently on loan at the Old Lady.
Bakayoko came off the bench in both of those games, but still caused Kelly problems as PSV secured their place in the round of 16 with a 4-3 aggregate win.
Italian media blasted Kelly after his Champions League debut, with pundits claiming he ‘just watches’. Things have gotten better for the 26-year-old in recent weeks with Igor Tudor following the sacking of Thiago Motta.
It looks highly likely that Kelly will complete a permanent move to Juventus this summer and give Newcastle pure profit after they signed him on a free transfer last summer.
