Newcastle United have completed the record transfer of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.
Itâs been yet another whirlwind week in the transfer window for Newcastle United, but this time itâs been a positive one.
All eyes were on the Champions League draw on Thursday as Newcastle learned they will be playing PSG and Barcelona among their eight opponents, but a big transfer bombshell quickly averted attention.
It emerged out of the blue that Newcastle were not only interested in Nick Woltemade, but that a deal with Bundesliga club Stuttgart was already agreed.
Woltemade, hailed as the âtwo-metre Messi-Musialaâ, jetted into Newcastle on Thursday night to complete his medical on Friday and the transfer has now been officially confirmed on Saturday, August 30.
Hereâs everything you need to know about the deal.

How much Newcastle United have paid for Nick Woltemade
Woltemade has become Newcastleâs most expensive signing ever, overtaking Alexander Isakâs ÂŁ63m move from Real Sociedad in 2022.
Newcastle have splashed out a guaranteed ÂŁ65m for Woltemade, a fee which could rise as high as ÂŁ69m if ÂŁ4m worth of add-ons are met.
Woltemade hasnât been signed in time to make his debut at Leeds on Saturday but has already played three games this season, so he is fit and raring to go after the international break.
Nick Woltemade contract length at Newcastle United
Newcastle have moved to ensure Woltemadeâs long-term future will be at St. Jamesâ Park after signing him for such a high fee.
The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a âlong-term dealâ, reportedly a six-year contract, which will keep him at the club until 2031 and see the remaining peak years of his career take place on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe has been searching for a striker all summer after Newcastle missed out on several top targets, but the club have finally got a marquee signing that no one saw coming.
With three days remaining until the transfer window shuts at 7pm on Monday, September 1, Newcastle still want to sign another striker.
Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa remain of interest, despite their clubsâ reluctance to sell.
It appears that the signing of Woltemade alone wonât be enough for Newcastle to allow Isak to join Liverpool, and the Magpies are still demanding ÂŁ150m to sell the Swede.
It looks like itâs going to be a wild last few days of the transfer window.
