Newcastle United youngster Antonio Cordero could be saved from his nightmare stint on loan at Westerlo by a fallen Spanish giant.
After a lack of game time, Cordero could be recalled by Newcastle United as they look to further his development.
The 19-year-old hasn’t even started a game for KVC Westerlo this season, much to the frustration of onlooking fans.
Newcastle picking the wrong clubs for their young players to develop at has long been an issue.
Thankfully, Cordero may be saved from his time in Belgium and move to a former great of Spanish football.

Deportivo La Coruna closing in on Antonio Cordero move
Indeed, according to Spanish outlet COPE, Deportivo La Coruna are closing in on a move for the 19-year-old winger.
Deportivo aren’t the force they used to be. Gone are the days when they were winning La Liga titles or beating Manchester United in the Champions League.

Still, they are pushing to get out of the second division in Spain and want Cordero as a midseason addition to help with their challenge. Currently top of the league, perhaps he could be the missing piece in their jigsaw.
The report adds that other Spanish clubs are also keen.
Cordero, of course, scored six goals while registering seven assists during his breakout campaign in that division with Malaga last season.
What Newcastle United were thinking when they sent Antonio Cordero to Westerlo
Westerlo certainly didn’t seem like an obvious move for Cordero immediately after he joined Newcastle from Malaga.
In fact, Newcastle expected Cordero to play more often for Westerlo, though that obviously hasn’t happened.

Interestingly, according to AS, Newcastle were hoping to take the teenager out of his comfort zone.
They were hoping that having to deal with a more physical league would help him develop. For whatever reason, that simply hasn’t happened.
Now, it looks like they are set to make a U-turn only a few months later and send him back to Spain.
