Eddie Howe, Davide Frattesi and Guillaume Restes all feature in the latest round-up of Newcastle United transfer news and rumours.
The January transfer window has so far been quiet for Newcastle United, albeit at an early stage.
Thus far, the only confirmed deals at Newcastle United during the 2026 January transfer window have been the loan exits of academy players Joe Brayson and Antonio Cordero.
If you could sign ONE Premier League player this month – who would it be?
Hopefully, at some point, there is movement on the incoming front too.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours.
Davide Frattesi could join Galatasaray
Frattesi has long been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Geordie Boot Boys revealed back in September that Newcastle were interested in signing Frattesi, although Inter blocked a loan.
However, the Italian international has since struggled to replicate what he has done previously for the Milan giants and has been linked with a move.
Would you rather Newcastle sign a ready-made No.1 or a young project player?
Newcastle have been touted as a potential landing spot but, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Galatasaray are keen to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.
For his part, the midfielder is thought to be open to the move.
Chelsea make move for Eddie Howe
Chelsea may be looking for a new manager in a few months, even if Liam Rosenior is the favourite to take over from Enzo Maresca.
By the end of the season, the Blues could be on the hunt for a new boss.
According to The Express, the west London giants have sounded Howe out about the prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge.
Still, it’s incredibly hard to imagine the Newcastle United manager – who has so much control at the club – moving to a team with Chelsea’s model.
Guillaume Restes not on Newcastle United’s radar
Newcastle are keen on Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie.
Still, their scouting of the French club is not believed to extend to their goalkeeper.
Guillaume Restes may have been mentioned on social media as a potential target but, according to Newcastle World, the club are not keen at this stage.
It’s thought that the 20-year-old just does not fit Newcastle’s ideal physical profile.
Newcastle are targeting a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window but Restes is seemingly not likely to feature on their shortlist.
