Martin Dubravka pulls off Save of the Season contender
Newcastle beat Fulham 2-1 on Saturday afternoon and Burnley followed suit with a victory of their own.
Burnley took a 2-0 lead at Wolverhampton Wanderers before conceding twice to Vitor Pereira’s side.
Lyle Foster popped up with a late winner for Burnley, but the Clarets still faced last-gasp drama.
Wolves defender Santiago Bueno appeared to have rescued a point for the hosts with low drive towards Dubravka’s left.
Dubravka produced a stunning reaction save to hold on to all three points at Molineux.
One Burnley player was left with his hands on his head after a remarkable save, while others mobbed the goalkeeper.
Dubravka may have struggled for first-team action by the end of his Newcastle career, but it’s great to see him playing regularly and shining in a Burnley shirt.
Scott Parker hails former Newcastle United ace Martin Dubravka
Burnley boss Scott Parker has heaped praise on Dubravka following Sunday’s win.
Speaking on Burnley’s official website, Parker suggested that Dubravka’s save was ‘incredible’.
The former Newcastle midfielder also hailed Dubravka for being ‘absolutely first-class’ since joining Burnley.
“Incredible,” said Parker. “It felt like time stopped. I think it felt like it for all of us.
“Obviously, at that moment, we score and they’re going to hit it into an area. It falls to the boy and yeah, deep breath moment and you always judge keepers in big, big moments, they pull off big saves in big moments.
“It was an incredible save and he’s been absolutely first-class for us. We’re delighted to have Martin and, again, he was vital for us today,” he added.
Dubravka has already been praised by Burnley’s J.J. Watt, and he really appears to have found a home at Turf Moor.
