There were plenty of Newcastle United outgoings in 2025, and that could continue in 2026.
The Magpies waved goodbye to multiple first-team players, with the likes of Sean Longstaff, Martin Dubravka, Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly all departing St James’ Park.
There was also the high profile deal that saw Alexander Isak join Liverpool for £125million, as he became the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
Now another striker could follow him out the door in 2026, with the Athletic providing an interesting update on Will Osula’s Toon future.

Osula almost left Newcastle for Eintracht Frankfurt on transfer deadline day, only for PIF to pull the plug.
Interest in the 22-year-old is not going away, with reports claiming that Osula has agreed to join Eintracht Frankfurt in January.
Whether or not that deal happens, the Athletic claim that Osula is ‘likely’ to leave Newcastle United in 2026.

They report that Frankfurt want to bring him in on loan in January, before making the deal permanent in the summer.
However, the Athletic add that Newcastle will only sanction a January departure if they are able to sign a young striker as a replacement.
That is not at the top of their priorities, with Newcastle keen to sign a centre-midfielder and a full-back.

Newcastle United’s Will Osula stance will be dictated by PSR
It would be a shame to see Osula go, as he has shown real signs of improvement this season. He has been given more and more opportunities, and that has resulted in him being more and more influential.
Following his arrival in 2024, Eddie Howe told the club’s official website that Osula had ‘extreme pace’. Now he has much more than just speed, having refined his game after putting in the hard work on the Newcastle United training ground.
However, it is hard work that could lead to a move away. It is a good opportunity for the Magpies to make a profit, having bought Osula for £10million from Sheffield United.
As good as Osula has become, it still feels unlikely that he will get to the level Newcastle need for him to become a regular starter. With that in mind, the chance to make a profit on him and improve the club’s PSR position is certainly something Newcastle United are right to consider.
