We are still waiting for Yoane Wissa to make his Newcastle United debut, but the stars are aligning for that to happen soon enough.
Since arriving from Brentford for £55m, Yoane Wissa has had to watch from the sidelines as Newcastle United battle on without him.
To be fair, Nick Woltemade has done a great job of leading the line, but many are excited to see Wissa show what he can do, too.
How many goals do you think Yoane Wissa will actually score for Newcastle United this season?
Just today, Eddie Howe offered an update on Wissa’s fitness, claiming the forward has been involved in an 11 v 11 game in training. It’s thought he is now closer to a return to first-team action.
However, the Newcastle man has received disappointing news as DR Congo leave Wissa out of their AFCON squad. But, that’s pretty good news for the Magpies.
Newcastle United fans react to Yoane Wissa update
There were fears that Wissa may end up going to AFCON and playing for DR Congo before he even makes his Newcastle debut. But, that has been put to bed now.
While the striker himself is disappointed not to go, Newcastle fans are giddy about what lies ahead for Wissa.
One fan took to Twitter/X to say, “Woltemade x Wissa soon!” Another replied, “that’s good news, Wissa guarantees goals from nothing,” while a third added, “So excited to see him in action. He was prolific at Brentford scoring 19 goals last season, with all of those coming from open play. Massive boost!”
Meanwhile, plenty of Magpies fans are envisioning a world where Wissa makes his debut against fierce rivals Sunderland in two weeks’ time.
One wrote: “I can see wissa scoring a few against Sunderland.” Another said: “Wissa back in squad for Sunderland away but hopefully gets some minutes against Fulham in the cup.”
Others wrote, “Get Wissa on the bench tomorrow [against Spurs]. Few mins at the weekend then into Sunderland.”
Yoane Wissa will transform Newcastle United
It’s safe to say fans are excited to see Wissa play for the Magpies. Sources at Newcastle are positive about Wissa’s early signs in training, too.
No one is to blame for Wissa being unavailable for so long, but it’s still been a very frustrating time for all involved. Still, all will be forgiven if he has half the impact everyone hopes for.
Imagine the scenes if Yoane Wissa’s first game back sees him score the winner in the derby 😍
The most intriguing element of all this is how Wissa and Woltemade will link up. The latter has made a great start to life at Newcastle, but if he has someone like Wissa working around him, he could go to the next level.
No matter how quickly Wissa makes an impact, his return will be a huge boost for Newcastle and Eddie Howe. To have another top level striker fit and firing can only be a good thing, and it’ll make Newcastle a different proposition entirely.
