Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade produced a moment of magic on Saturday, but it was not enough to prevent defeat against Brighton.
Eddie Howe’s side looked to end their rotten run at the Amex Stadium, but it only extended further. Newcastle United lost 2-1 to Brighton, with a Danny Welbeck brace giving the Seagulls victory.
Welbeck’s winner was a crushing moment for Newcastle United, who had only just drawn level courtesy of a ridiculous Nick Woltemade goal.
The 23-year-old produced an outrageous flick to score his fifth goal of the season, and provide his team with what was a deserved equaliser.
However, Woltemade’s effort was in vain with Welbeck putting Brighton back ahead just eight minutes after the Magpies had drawn level.
Don Hutchison stunned by Nick Woltemade goal vs Brighton
Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever continued his great run of form in front of goal, with his beautiful finish showcasing once again what a unique striker he is.
It was Woltemade’s first Premier League goal away from St James’ Park, and pundit Don Hutchison could not believe what he saw the giant German do on the south coast.
“He [Woltemade] scores them all,” he told the Premier League’s official website.
“What a finish that is. That is brilliant. You have to try and improvise when the ball’s slightly behind you, but what a finish.”

Glenn Murray praises Nick Woltemade’s teammate for his role in Newcastle United goal
Woltemade’s goal was absolutely beautiful, and it came from some brilliant build-up play. Bruno Guimaraes was heavily involved, but it was his midfield partner who provided the assist.
Lewis Miley, who had replaced Joelinton at half-time, dragged the ball into a dangerous area for Woltemade to make it 1-1.
It was a smart assist from the 19-year-old, who was praised for his role in the goal by Glenn Murray during BBC Final Score.
“Big goal by a big man,” he said.
“Brilliant feet. It is a brilliant ball from Lewis Miley.
“Nick Woltemade lets it roll away from the goalkeeper and he leaves the goalkeeper with no chance.”
The assist was Miley’s first goal contribution of the season, having shaken off an injury issue to be involved at the Amex Stadium.
The midfielder suffered a calf issue that forced him to miss both England Under-21s games during the international break, but he was fit enough to feature in Newcastle’s late defeat to Brighton.
While he will be happy with his contribution towards Woltemade’s stunning goal, it was all for nothing.
