Newcastle United begin 2026 with a Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Though Newcastle United didn’t end 2025 in spectacular fashion, it was still a fantastic year for the club in which they won the Carabao Cup while qualifying for the Champions League.

Clearly, that’s not to be forgotten, but Eddie Howe’s side do need to click into gear now the New Year has rolled around.

Sound logic or stubbornness from Eddie Howe here?

He was NOT happy with the idea that Newcastle faced an ‘onslaught’ against Burnley!

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace latest team news

Thankfully for Howe, Lewis Hall should be fit to play for Newcastle against Palace after suffering an ankle injury against Burnley earlier this week.

Tino Livramento, Sven Botman and Kieran Trippier could all return to the squad, too. Anthony Elanga may also make his comeback after missing the last two games.

Jamaal Lascelles, Emil Krafth, Dan Burn and William Osula are all injured.

Palace, meanwhile, are missing several key players. Eddie Nketiah, Chadi Riad, Chris Richards, Cheick Doucoure, Rio Cardines, Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada will miss the game.

Will Hughes is a doubt, while Ismaila Sarr is away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Brennan Johnson could make his debut for the Eagles, having recently signed from Tottenham for around £35million.

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace

Newcastle thrashed Palace 5-0 back in April and, generally, their home record has been good this season.

Howe’s side are usually a different beast at home and have only lost to Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona there thus far.

Palace are a fine side away from home, however, and have won five of their nine games on the road this season.

Still, they are down to the bare bones and Newcastle should have enough to claim a victory.
