Newcastle United’s 2025 summer transfer plans are yet to burst into life, much to the frustration of fans.
Eddie Howe wants two new signings before his players return for pre-season, with the hard work set to start all over again on 7th July.
The clock is ticking for Newcastle United to get active in the transfer market and give Eddie Howe what he wants. It has been a summer of disappointment so far, with key targets already moving elsewhere.
Newcastle missed out on Liam Delap, while Dean Huijsen chose Real Madrid. There was also hope that Bryan Mbeumo would arrive, only for the Magpies to decide he is too expensive.

What Newcastle United suddenly expect to happen in the transfer market
There has not been a lot for Newcastle United fans to get excited by. To make matters worse, supporters have been bombarded by talk of Alexander Isak and Tino Livramento leaving, despite Newcastle having no desire to sell.
However, there is hope that some positive news might not be too far away.
According to the Athletic, Newcastle United insiders believe that the transfer market is going to ‘heat up over the next week or two’.
That is because the PSR deadline is on Monday 30th June, while players will very soon be back at their clubs for the start of pre-season.
As frustrating as it is, this is the quiet period of the transfer window. Clubs are reluctant to act until 1st July arrives and a new PSR cycle kicks in, while a lot of players are away on summer breaks after a gruelling 2024/25 season.
In terms of the deals that have been done by Newcastle’s rivals, it has either been by sides competing at the Club World Cup or for players who had release clauses. The only anomaly is Liverpool, who have been very active.
James Trafford claim backs up Newcastle United’s transfer stance
Newcastle United’s transfer prediction coincides with what Fabrizio Romano has reported about James Trafford.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper is on the Magpies’ radar, with talks expected to intensify very soon.
Romano wrote on X on Monday: “Negotiations between Newcastle and Burnley for James Trafford are underway. Club to club talks continue as the deal can happen from July, so expected to accelerate from next week.”
Trafford’s price tag is currently too high for Newcastle, so hopefully these fresh negotiations result in a compromise being reached.
