Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur go head-to-head on Tuesday night with both sides hoping to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

For Newcastle, this is a chance to record a third straight Premier League win and build on that massive victory over Everton at the weekend.

What’s your favourite Toon win over Spurs? We’ll start!

Spurs, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a dismal run of results. While Thomas Frank is under pressure and history is against them, Eddie Howe has still been wary of Tottenham’s ability.

Hopefully, the result comes down to which team plays the best, and not technology or human error. With that in mind, here’s a look at the refereeing team for the game.

Who is the referee for Newcastle vs Spurs?

The referee for Tuesday’s game will be Tom Bramall.

He will be helped by assistants Simon Bennett and Nick Greenhalgh. Anthony Backhouse is on fourth official duty.

Meanwhile, Paul Tierney heads up the VAR team, with Ian Hussin as his assistant.

Tom Bramall’s referee record

This season, Tom Bramall has taken charge of 11 matches, seven of which have been in the Premier League.

He has shown three red cards so far; sending off Liam Delap in Chelsea’s win over Wolves, Hugo Ekitike in Liverpool’s win over Southampton, and Toti Gomes for Wolves in their defeat to Bournemouth.

Bramall has only awarded one penalty, which came just over a week ago during the 2-2 draw between Bournemouth and West Ham.

Across 32 games in his professional career, Bramall has shown nine red cards, 108 yellows, and has a penalties-per-game ratio of 0.22. There is also an average of 20.59 fouls given during his matches.

Controversies

The biggest blot on Bramall’s copybook is definitely the fact that his decision to rule out a Morgan Rogers goal against Manchester United ultimately cost Aston Villa a place in the Champions League this season.

Ironically, that controversial error helped Newcastle land fifth place and secured their place in the top continental competition.

Hello! It’s time to talk all things Newcastle United vs Tottenham. What are some of your early predictions?

Spurs are in crisis. We’re at home. What could go wrong?! I’m going for a 2-0 home win with Nick Woltemade to score yet again…

At the time Aston Villa complained to the PGMOL, but nothing was done to reverse the mistake, naturally. Former Premier League referee Keith Hackett even said it was a “poor management decision” from the PGMOL to put Bramall on duty for that big game.

With Newcastle chasing Champions League qualification again this season, they’ll be hoping Bramall doesn’t cost them this time.
