Eddie Howe has made changes as Newcastle United confirm their starting XI to play Marseille in the Champions League.
The Champions League has so far been productive for Newcastle United, who boast three wins from their four games thus far.
As such, they are on course to make at least the play-off round as things stand.
Still, the job is not done yet and Howe’s side could certainly do with picking up three points at the Stade Velodrome.
Newcastle United’s CONFIRMED starting XI vs Marseille
Indeed, a victory here takes the pressure off the trip to Bayer Leverkusen in December, which comes only a few days before Newcastle head to Sunderland.
Should they beat Marseille, Newcastle could feasibly rest players ahead of the derby despite playing in the Champions League only a few days before.
Newcastle United’s changes against Marseille
As expected, the Newcastle United manager has rotated his squad.
Dan Burn comes back in at left-back ahead of Lewis Hall, who still isn’t fully fit. As impressive as Hall was on Saturday, Newcastle cannot afford to lose him going forward.
Anthony Gordon, meanwhile, starts up front ahead of Nick Woltemade. The German has been rested and Gordon gets the chance to build on his impressive form in this competition.
Tino Livramento continues at right-back following his impressive outing against Manchester City. Joe Willock is brought into central midfield as Howe gives Joelinton something of a rest.
Prediction for Marseille vs Newcastle United?
Young Sam Alabi is on the bench.
Newcastle’s injury list contains the likes of Yoane Wissa, Kieran Trippier and William Osula and all of their return dates remain unclear at this stage.
