Newcastle United must pick themselves up for Tuesday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham.
It’s a massive game for Newcastle United, even if Champions League qualification now looks to be almost impossible.
Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side simply must respond. The Magpies were rightly booed off against Brentford and there are major question marks over where the club is going right now.
Winning away at Tottenham wouldn’t answer all of those but it would at least lift the mood somewhat.
Howe is under pressure at Newcastle and losing to crisis club Spurs would only deepen it.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest team news and our predicted lineup.
Newcastle United confirmed team news vs Tottenham
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Howe confirmed that Joelinton won’t make the game. Of the Brazilian, he said: “Joelinton won’t make this game.”
The Newcastle United manager also revealed that there are doubts about Lewis Miley and Anthony Gordon, although neither are definitely ruled out.
Asked about Gordon, Howe said: “We’ll make a check on [him] today [Monday] and see how he’s progressing. Hopefully a big improvement in him.”
Gordon missed the Brentford game after coming off against Manchester City.
Newcastle United injuries vs Tottenham
Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar are both injured for Newcastle, along with Emil Krafth.
As such, Howe does not have many options from which to choose in his backline.
Newcastle United predicted XI vs Tottenham
Howe will surely make changes from the team who lost to Brentford. Though his hands are somewhat tied defensively, perhaps Dan Burn could start to give one of the centre backs a rest.
Much will depend on whether Miley and Gordon can make the game, too.
Fans will undoubtedly be calling for Howe to change the system too, given what they saw on Saturday.
Newcastle United predicted XI: Pope; Trippier, Burn, Botman, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Ramsey; Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes

Doubts: Miley, Gordon
