Newcastle United are constantly looking for the next big thing, as they attempt to bolster their youth ranks.

That is something the Magpies could do in January, with Ross Wilson looking to add greater depth to Eddie Howe’s squad.

Newcastle are expected to bid for Dayann Methalie, a 19-year-old left-back who plays for Toulouse in France. He would be a smart acquisition, as they aim to provide Lewis Hall with more cover.

They are also looking for attacking reinforcements, and could target someone much closer to home.

Would you take Wilson back at Newcastle as a third choice striker? 👀

Newcastle United scout Wolves teenager Mateus Mane

While Wolves are massively struggling and look destined to be relegated, the emergence of Mateus Mane at Molineux is certainly exciting.

He has caught the attention of Newcastle United, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Magpies are one of multiple clubs who have been checking out the 18-year-old forward.

The report states that Newcastle are ‘assessing options’, and there is no doubt that Mane is a player with huge potential.

He has looked fearless in a desperate Wolves side, scoring his first professional goal during Saturday’s 3-0 win over West Ham.

That goal made him Wolves’ youngest ever scorer in the Premier League, and it will likely be the first of many for a forward who should have a very bright future ahead of him.

It is a future that could include a move to Newcastle United, as Toon scouts have very much got their eye on him.

Mateus Mane deal could allow Will Osula to leave Newcastle United

While Newcastle United look at potential attackers to buy, one forward who could be on his way out of St James’ Park is Will Osula.

Eddie Howe does not expect Osula to leave in January, but rumours of a mid-season exit refuse to go away.

It has been reported that Osula has agreed to join Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, who are in talks with Newcastle United over a deal.

However, it is difficult to envisage the Magpies allowing Osula to leave without a replacement arriving. Wolves wonderkid Mane could be that replacement, but it remains to be seen if he is available this month.
