After beating Man City this weekend, Newcastle United are looking to carry that momentum into the game against Marseille tonight.
Despite everyone doubting them, Newcastle United managed to get all three points against Man City on Saturday evening.
Eddie Howe got his tactics spot on to finally beat Pep Guardiola and put an end to Newcastle’s poor run of form.

Anthony Gordon has to be on the bench
The Newcastle United Twitter/X account shared a post on Monday night showing Anthony Gordon back in training and looking ready and raring to go.
The only problem is, most fans don’t want him to start the next game, especially after seeing Harvey Barnes bag two goals at the weekend.
One fan wrote, “He cannot walk in the squad after Barnes’ display on Saturday,” while another said, “Don’t you dare drop Barnes.” A third simply added: “Barnes before Gordon, all day, every day.”
The message to Eddie Howe is loud and clear, it seems: while Gordon being back from injury is a positive, he has to be left out of the Newcastle starting XI against Marseille.
One fan even joked: “Bigging him up for Champions League games haha deserves the bench.”
But, there are a few supporters who are excited about his return and feel Gordon could be worth including from the start.
One said: “Best winger in the league. Feel much more confident about tomorrow.”
Another added: “Good to see Gordon back on the grass, our top performer in the Champions League … people need to give him some respect.”
Harvey Barnes being in form is a great problem for Eddie Howe
Harvey Barnes was ‘terrific’ on Saturday, and he absolutely has to start against Marseille; that much is obvious.
The good thing is, having someone like Barnes hit good form, at a time when Gordon is chasing fitness and Anthony Elanga has been far from at his best, is a brilliant development for Eddie Howe.
Anthony Gordon’s ridiculous work rate off the ball.
Newcastle have been criticised for lacking flair and creativity, but Barnes is bringing that right now and looks full of confidence.
The idea that someone like Anthony Gordon will have to fight for his place in the team is never a bad thing. Barnes is raising the game for the Magpies, and everyone else now needs to get on his level.
