It has been a crazy few months for Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade.
While a move to Bayern Munich did not materialise, he was sold by Stuttgart for £69million. He became Newcastle United’s most expensive signing, given the unenviable task of replacing Alexander Isak at St James’ Park.
Since moving to Tyneside, Nick Woltemade has been on fire. He has scored six unique goals for his new club, immediately becoming an insanely popular member of the Newcastle United squad.
His style of play has made him a fan favourite, but the 23-year-old has noticed one big change to his career since swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League.

Nick Woltemade says expectations have changed since Newcastle United move
A lot of eyes have been on Woltemade since joining Newcastle United. He has had the pressure of replacing Isak, as well as being weighed down by a seismic price tag.
That price tag does not bother Woltemade, but he has told ESPN that he believes more is now expected of him compared to 12 months ago.
“I would say not easier,” he said when asked if playing football has become easier over the past year.
“I think it’s different because now I’m in the position where everybody is expecting goals and good movements and skills and wins from me.
“In this time like one year ago like no one was expecting goals and stuff from me. So now the situation changed a bit but to be honest of course I feel now more confidence because I know I can score goals.
“I’m feeling more confident now than November 2024. It’s difficult to compare because this season is going so fast. I’ve had so many experiences, Premier League every week and Champions League. It’s different but it’s really nice.”
Nick Woltemade has coped with this new pressure
Given the amount of money he cost and the league he is playing in, there is understandably more pressure on Woltemade.
Combine those factors with Yoane Wissa’s injury and there has been no time for the giant striker to ease into his new surroundings.
Fortunately, he has been able to hit the ground running. Woltemade has proven to be hugely impactful since arriving in Newcastle, scoring and creating so many goals.
What is even more exciting is that there is obviously more to come from Woltemade. He is going to get better in the coming years, which should be a worrying prospect for opposing defenders.
The forward has even taken his club form to international level, with Woltemade scoring three goals during the November international break as Germany qualified for the World Cup.
The German media were blown away by Woltemade against Slovakia on Monday night, with one outlet even calling him their ‘talisman’. That is the kind of pressure Newcastle’s number 27 is talking about, but he is showing no signs of crumbling under it.
