Another goal. Another top-drawer performance. And yet more praise for Bruno Guimaraes as the Newcastle United skipper leads his team to an important three points.
It was Bruno Guimaraes who broke the deadlock at St. James’ Park to end a nervy 70 minutes for Newcastle United on Sunday evening.
Who was your MOTM against Crystal Palace?!
THREE CRUCIAL POINTS 😍
A smart header in a tight spot saw the Brazilian add to his tally for the season and give his team the lead they deserved against a tough Palace side.
Not only did he get his goal, but Bruno linked up with Yoane Wissa effectively, and dominated the midfield battle for the Magpies.

What Eddie Howe said about Bruno Guimaraes
Talking to the press after the game, Eddie Howe had plenty to say about his captain and his influence on the game at St. James’ Park.
He said: “Bruno is a very special player, person and character. He’s very positive, has great energy and played a captain’s role because that game was always going to be decided by a very key moment – and he has come up with the big one for us. He’s done it countless times.
“Your big players normally decide big games and today was a big game for us decided by a huge player in our recent history.”
This is just another in a long line of great performances for Guimaraes, who even acknowledged he is having a ‘spectacular’ season right now.

Captain fantastic rules Newcastle vs Crystal Palace clash
It was an all-action display from the Brazilian midfielder, who once again showed he is capable of excelling in pretty much every area.
He converted his chance really well and also hit the woodwork from a corner after audaciously trying to recreate that special goal against Burnley.
The captain also managed an 82% success rate with his passes, including one key pass and one big chance created. He had a massive 90 touches, succeeded with one dribble, and won eight duels on the day (as per Sofascore).
This has been Bruno’s best season yet, and he’s still got time to get even better. There’s no denying the Newcastle skipper is absolutely vital to this team, especially on days like today where he drags the team up to his level and helps grind out the win.
It’s scary to think where Newcastle would be without Bruno. Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about that right now.
