The World Cup is only a few months away now, and ahead of this summer’s tournament England’s squad has been predicted with some interesting Newcastle United inclusions.

Newcastle United may be having an inconsistent season, but it is still expected we will see some of the Magpies’ top players on the plane to the USA with the England squad.

Reminder: Paul Mitchell once thought that Newcastle United overspent on Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

In May 2025, The Daily Mail claimed that Paul Mitchell “made no secret of his belief the club overpaid for Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.” 🤣

Over the last 12 months, Thomas Tuchel has utilised a number of Newcastle stars in his England squads as the Three Lions navigated their World Cup qualifying campaign in spectacular, unbeaten fashion.

We know Tuchel is set to talk to Newcastle players and others on the fringes of his squad in the coming weeks and months about what they need to do to get to the World Cup.

Now, a prediction has been made as to who will be on the plane, and it’s good news for four Newcastle stars, but disappointment for another.

Lewis Hall to miss out on World Cup?

In a prediction piece from the Metro, a version of Tuchel’s potential squad for the upcoming tournament was named and we see Nick Pope, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, and Anthony Gordon included.

On Pope, reporter Phil Haigh said: “Nick Pope [is] in with a good chance of taking that third [goalkeeper] spot as he is still playing regularly for Newcastle.”

Haigh suggested Reece James is the number one choice at right-back, but added, “the versatile Tino Livramento could be the next in line.”

We previously said Dan Burn should be in the England squad come the summer, and Haigh clearly agrees, adding: “[He] may well be on the plane as cover at centre-back and left-back, which is handy.”

However, there is absolutely no mention of Lewis Hall here, which is a massive shock given his current form. Hall was one of the most improved Newcastle players in 2025 and is surely knocking on the door for a place in the England team.

Haigh believes the spot belongs to either Nico O’Reilly of Man City or Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly. Surely, though, if Hall keeps playing the way he is, he will be the starting left-back for England.

How much would Lewis Hall be worth in the transfer market? 👀

What a performance!

Anthony Gordon’s spot must be at risk

Meanwhile, Haigh commented on Gordon’s chances of being involved in the summer, writing: “Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon will be Tuchel’s choices on the left, although the Newcastle man might need to pick up his form to be certain of that.”

Gordon has been in terrible form for a while now, and the fact he hasn’t scored an open play goal in the Premier League since last January has to be recognised.

If Tuchel is genuinely picking his squad on form, there’s not a chance Gordon gets in right now. Let’s just hope he shows a marked improvement over the next few months, for his sake, and for the sanity of Newcastle fans everywhere.
