Newcastle United star Joelinton has recently been linked with a surprise move away from the club during the January transfer window.
One of the best players of the Eddie Howe era at Newcastle United, the transformation Joelinton underwent has helped propel the club to unprecedented success in their modern era.
Still, there’s little doubt that the Brazilian has struggled to match his previous level of form this season.
Prove me wrong: Newcastle United should sell Joelinton in January if they get a big offer 💰
Selling players in January isn't ideal but he has peaked
Recent reports suggest that clubs in Saudi Arabia want to sign Joelinton in January and, for the first time in years, there is some logic into selling him.
However, the club’s stance on the midfielder’s future has now been set.
Newcastle United demand £50m for Joelinton
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle still consider the 29-year-old a part of Howe’s plans.
At this stage, they are not considering a sale unless an “astronomical” offer is made for Joelinton.
The report goes on to add that they would demand as much as £50million for the player, who remains happy at St James’ Park.
In fact, sources close to the star indicate that they have no information of any interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Newcastle United have a long-term plan to replace Joelinton
It’s certainly understandable as to why Howe would want to keep Joelinton.
Though he has suffered a dip in form this season, he remains a key player when fit and proved his ability to step up in the big games against Manchester City last month.
He may no longer be one of the first names on the team sheet but that does not mean he cannot play an important role in the many fixtures to come.
However, at some point, the club will need to look to the future. Joelinton is approaching 30 and won’t be in the team forever.
Indeed, back in November, it was claimed that Newcastle consider Atalanta midfielder Ederson as a long-term replacement for Joelinton.
It remains to be seen if Ederson is attainable, however, amid reported interest from several other top clubs.
