The roar from the Newcastle United fans when Nick Woltemade scored his first goal against Chelsea was incredible.
If there was one Newcastle United player who fans wanted to score against Chelsea then it was Nick Woltemade after his Sunderland nightmare.
Woltemade wanted to repay the Newcastle United fans, and he did just that with two goals at the Leazes End. Unfortunately, they were only enough to win one point as Newcastle drew 2-2 with Chelsea.
While the result is disappointing, it was a pivotal afternoon for Woltemade. He bounced back in a big way, and could not hide his delight after scoring his first.
Who was Newcastle United’s MOTM against Chelsea?!
Strange to say there are a few choices given the result!
Nick Woltemade could not stop celebrating his first goal against Chelsea
It was a poacher’s goal from the 23-year-old, which was something we were yet to see from Newcastle’s most expensive signing.
Woltemade got himself a tap in from six yards after Robert Sanchez denied Anthony Gordon, smashing the rebound into the back of the net.
The Germany international ran towards the corner flag to celebrate with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Jacob Ramsey, as the Toon Army rejoiced.
As the celebrations died down and the players headed back to their own half for the restart, Woltemade still could not hide his joy. The £69million man punched the air in delight, in what was a huge release of emotion at the end of a challenging week.
If you could go back in time and tell Eddie Howe one thing during his half-time team talk, what would it be?!
Wor Flags debut Nick Woltemade display
On Wednesday night against Fulham, Newcastle United fans showed support to Woltemade. They cheered him as he warmed up, then sang his name when he came on.
There was then another show of support ahead of the Chelsea game, as Wor Flags debuted a new banner dedicated to the 6ft 6in forward.

Seeing that display no doubt spurred Woltemade on, as he scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season.
