With the World Cup just around the corner, Tino Livramento has opened up about his hopes of playing in the tournament with England.

Thomas Tuchel has some big decisions to make with regards to his World Cup squad, and a few Newcastle United players will be hoping for a call next summer.

Tino Livramento just gets better and better šŸ˜Ž Is he the best full-back in the Premier League?

He created 2 chances and won both of his ground duels in that first half. Surely no one better in his position in the league right now?

It is thought Tuchel will chat to the likes of Livramento, Lewis Hall, and Dan Burn among others ahead of the tournament to discuss their chances of going to the USA.

For Livramento, his fine form for Newcastle makes him perhaps the most likely to be on the plane of that trio. But, he’s not allowing those ambitions to distract from the task at hand.

How Tino Livramento feels about 2026 World Cup hopes

Speaking to Sky Sports this week, Tino Livramento was very open about his feelings on the World Cup, but insisted he only wants to focus on playing well for Newcastle right now.

ā€œIt [the World Cup] is in the summer but at the back of my mind. It is a big thing. You grow up, and your family and dad talk about it. It would be a massive thing to be in the squad.

ā€œBut it is important I keep it at the back of my mind. There are a lot more important things for us to focus on right now. I have only just come back. I am looking forward to just playing well for Newcastle and moving up the table.ā€

Indeed, Livramento is key for Newcastle right now, more than ever before. Not only is he the club’s only fit right-back, but he’s become a leader behind the scenes, too.

All of that will stand him in good stead for the World Cup, and the fact he has Newcastle at the top of his list of priorities will further endear him to the fans on Tyneside.

Horror injury left Tino Livramento emotionally scarred

It’s been a long road back to full fitness for Livramento after his horror injury against Arsenal back in October. He had to be stretchered off during that game, and he admitted it left him unable to even go to St. James’ Park to watch games at times.

In the same interview, he added: ā€œFrom a selfish standpoint, it is frustrating, but you just have to find a way to keep yourself going and to be a better version of yourself.

Newcastle United cannot lose when Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall start together.

Which full-back would you sign in January?

ā€œThe hardest thing for me was that I don’t like going to games very much. It is hard to just watch. I stayed at home and watched most of them on TV. But I’d always send a text saying good luck and when I am in [the training ground] I’d still be myself.ā€

It’s crucial that Newcastle keep Livramento fit and healthy, for their own sake and for the sake of his World Cup hopes. Signing a new full-back would help relieve that pressure on Livramento to no end, but that’s easier said than done when it comes to the January transfer window.
