How Tino Livramento feels about 2026 World Cup hopes
Speaking to Sky Sports this week, Tino Livramento was very open about his feelings on the World Cup, but insisted he only wants to focus on playing well for Newcastle right now.
āIt [the World Cup] is in the summer but at the back of my mind. It is a big thing. You grow up, and your family and dad talk about it. It would be a massive thing to be in the squad.
āBut it is important I keep it at the back of my mind. There are a lot more important things for us to focus on right now. I have only just come back. I am looking forward to just playing well for Newcastle and moving up the table.ā
Indeed, Livramento is key for Newcastle right now, more than ever before. Not only is he the clubās only fit right-back, but heās become a leader behind the scenes, too.
All of that will stand him in good stead for the World Cup, and the fact he has Newcastle at the top of his list of priorities will further endear him to the fans on Tyneside.
Horror injury left Tino Livramento emotionally scarred
Itās been a long road back to full fitness for Livramento after his horror injury against Arsenal back in October. He had to be stretchered off during that game, and he admitted it left him unable to even go to St. Jamesā Park to watch games at times.
In the same interview, he added: āFrom a selfish standpoint, it is frustrating, but you just have to find a way to keep yourself going and to be a better version of yourself.
Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall need help!
āThe hardest thing for me was that I donāt like going to games very much. It is hard to just watch. I stayed at home and watched most of them on TV. But Iād always send a text saying good luck and when I am in [the training ground] Iād still be myself.ā
Itās crucial that Newcastle keep Livramento fit and healthy, for their own sake and for the sake of his World Cup hopes. Signing a new full-back would help relieve that pressure on Livramento to no end, but thatās easier said than done when it comes to the January transfer window.
