Tino Livramento’s return to the Newcastle United team did not go unnoticed by former teammate Elliot Anderson.

Livramento started his first game since the beginning of October as Newcastle United beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League.

It was a brilliant display from Eddie Howe’s side and the return of Newcastle’s excellent young full backs played a big part in it.

Livramento was brilliant for Newcastle against Man City, as was Lewis Hall on the opposite side.

The England internationals gave Howe’s side an added dimension, with the team looking like an entirely different outfit.

Anderson, who has played alongside the 23-year-old for both club and country, was full of praise.

Elliot Anderson says Tino Livramento was “too good” for Newcastle United against Manchester City

Livramento celebrated Newcastle’s win over City – a club who have been consistently linked with signing him – with an Instagram post.

The defender didn’t caption the collage of images but Newcastle players past and present very much did that for him.

Who was your Newcastle United MOTM against Manchester City?

Hall wrote: “So good.”

Anderson, meanwhile, added: “Too good.”

Sean Longstaff, Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes, Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw were also among those who praised him.

Eddie Howe speaks on Tino Livramento after Newcastle United vs Manchester City

Unsurprisingly, Howe was full also full of praise for Livramento after the game.

To have returned from a reasonably lengthy absence in such stunning fashion spoke to what an excellent player Newcastle have on their hands.

Not only did Livramento shut the in-form Jeremy Doku down, he gave Newcastle the kind of attacking thrust they have been desperately missing of late.

Reminder: Paul Mitchell once thought that Newcastle United overspent on Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

In May 2025, The Daily Mail claimed that Paul Mitchell “made no secret of his belief the club overpaid for Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.” 🤣

“Tino, who had stayed with us [over the international break] and had done a lot of hard work, I thought physically looked unbelievable today considering he had seven weeks out,” said Howe.

“A really high level performance against a really dangerous opponent.”

Livramento’s return to the fold came just at the right time, too. Kieran Trippier picked up an injury and had to sit out of the City game entirely.

The importance Livramento boasts within this Newcastle United team cannot be overstated. With him and Hall back in the team, things are looking up.

There are plenty of questions left to answer this season but having both full-backs available makes that a much easier task for the Newcastle United manager.
