Two heavily-defected goals from Bernardo Silva knocked Newcastle United out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage.
Holders Manchester City went into the last four in relatively routine fashion at the Etihad Stadium, although both goals had an element of fortune about them, while a big first-half save from Stefan Ortega to deny Alexander Isak proved to be a key moment in the game.
Newcastle were backed by 8,000 travelling supporters against Pep Guardiola's men but fell behind in the 13th minute when Silva advanced into the box and saw his shot loop off Dan Burn and over Martin Dúbravka. And the home side doubled their advantage in the 31st minute when Silva struck once more, with the ball this time hitting both the boot of Joe Willock and the head of Sven Botman to deceive Dúbravka.
