Hartlepool edged past Ryton & Crawcrook Albion with a hard-fought 2–1 victory in a competitive Northern League clash, The visitors started brightly, pressing high and controlling possession. Ryton goalkeeper Callum Corkhill was forced in to a superb double save to deny Hartlepool. Their efforts paid off midway through the first half when Fin Smith broke the deadlock with a composed finish inside the box, giving Hartlepool a 1–0 lead. Ryton came out with renewed energy after the break and Chance for Louis Anderson dribbling past 4 of the visitors players, shooting well and forcing a good save from the keeper.
Ryton got their equaliser through Rhys McLeod, who capitalised on a defensive lapse to slot home and level the match. However, Hartlepool responded swiftly, and it was Fin Smith again who made the difference—netting his second of the afternoon to restore the visitors’ lead. Despite late pressure from Ryton, Hartlepool held firm to secure all three points.
