North Shields travelled to Coventry United in the FA Vase Last 16, and what a frustrating afternoon it turned out to be. A poor first-half display saw Shields punished as Coventry took control early, heading into the break firmly on top.
The second half was a completely different story. Shields dominated possession, piled on the pressure and created chance after chance, but a clever Coventry side and an outstanding performance from their number 1 kept us out. Despite a strong response and late push, it finished 2–1 to Coventry, bringing our Vase run to a disappointing end.
