Dwight Yorke has been talking about Manchester United and Bruno Guimaraes.

This follows media speculation about the Newcastle United midfielder.

Claims of Man U rivalling Arsenal in trying to sign the United captain.

Bruno Guimaraes set to return to join in Newcastle United preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

Despite the speculation, seemingly no formal offers have been made by Arsenal, Manchester United, nor any other club for the 28-year-old.

Dwight Yorke giving his verdict now to Boyle Sports on whether Manchester United should bid to sign Bruno Guimaraes: “I don’t know about Bruno Guimaraes. I am not sure he has been that impressive…I watched him play for Brazil at the World Cup and he’s not convinced me. I think he is good, he has shown that at Newcastle United. He has got a good work ethic. I understand the value of that. But is that what you are paying for when you sign a player to come to Man U? A good work ethic?”

Out of work football manager Dwight Yorke going on to say: “He is a solid player…but is Bruno Guimaraes going to take Man U to another level? Will Bruno Guimaraes put Man U any closer to the Premier League title…he doesn’t excite me. I’m not seeing him picking up a ball and boom, sending over one of those diagonal passes or cutting defenders apart with one ball. I just don’t see that quality from him. I’m not saying he’s not a good player but is that where Man U are at now? Just buying players because they’re solid? Bring me players that are going to make us superior! I’m not so sure that’s Bruno Guimaraes. The World Cup was an opportunity for him to tell the world there’s a reason why a team like Manchester United are going to be after me, and he’s come up short, in my opinion.”

As always, the arrogance of those connected with Manchester United is laughable.

Dwight Yorke and others always believing that it is up to Man U whether any player joins them, as though it is a given that any player would dream of joining them.

It is only 14 months ago when Manchester United were fighting it out for fourth bottom of the Premier League on the final day of the 2024/25 season. They spent further fortunes in summer 2025 and did manage to bounce back a bit but were still 14 points behind champions Arsenal, who also got to the Champions League final.

Bruno Guimaraes would walk into that Manchester United team but hopefully Man U follow Yorke’s expert analysis and stay well away from making a bid for Bruno G.
