Ahead of the Coventry City match there has been an official Newcastle United injury update.

NUFC return to Premier League action on Monday night.

Matthias Jaissle delivering this official Newcastle United injury update on Thursday at his pre-match press conference.

United return to action after picking up four wins and two draws in their opening seven games, losing only one.

Matthias Jaissle has said that “three or four’ of his nine injured players will be back available after the international break.

Nico Gonzalez is one of those three or four, after having gone through concussion protocols before returning to training and now matchday action on Monday.

Matthias Jaissle keeps his cards close to his chest but Joelinton will be another one of the “three or four” who is set to return to the matchday squad against Coventry City.

Matthias Jaissle on injuries and the players returning after the international break: “They have returned and I have allowed some of them an extra day off. We will have a full group in tomorrow. We are hopeful there will be three or four back from the nine missing against Hull City. Ewen Jaouen will be out for two months with a hamstring injury. Joey is progressing well, he is doing better. We need to be smart in our load management. Joelinton has qualities on the ball and out of possession. He is a leader, his body language shows that. We need warriors in the team. We are really happy to have him back training with us.”

The other six Newcastle United players who missed the Hull City match due to injury were Amar Dedic, Tino Livramento, Dan Burn, William Osula, Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga.

As Matthias Jaissle says, hopefully at least one or two of these half dozen will be back available as well as Joelinton and Nico Gonzalez.

Matthias Jaissle on Coventry City: “Every team is capable to win against every opponent. Coventry have the quality. They won their last match, they have confidence after winning that game. They will have momentum. If we perform at our best, then it will be difficult to beat us. We want to make it as difficult for them as possible. I am happy we are back. The long break was a little bit unusual, but we are all happy football is back. We want to improve, we want to develop. From tomorrow onwards, we will have everyone back with us training and can align ahead of Monday.”
