Everton are now interested in signing Jacob Murphy.

Sky Sports reporting the interest in the lifelong Newcastle United fan.

Jacob Murphy was signed by Rafa Benitez back in summer 2017 and has proved an astute signing long-term.

Now Everton could be set to be his new club, with Sky Sports stating: ‘The 31-year-old has just 12 months on his St James’ Park contract and could leave this window.’

The broadcaster saying that their understanding is that there has been no formal Everton offer as yet for the Newcastle United winger as yet, but this could change in the near future with the new Premier League kicking off only six weeks from now.

Jacob Murphy had his ‘Miguel Almiron season’ in 2024/25, Murphy getting 20 Premier League direct goal contributions that season, scoring eight and getting 12 assists across 35 EPL appearances, starting 31 and off the bench in another four.

Last (2025/26) season, Jacob Murphy made another 33 EPL appearances but only 19 starts and 14 off the bench as he was no longer an automatic starter. Murphy only managing five Premier League direct goal contributions scoring three goals and getting two assists.

There looks set to be a major overhaul of the Newcastle United squad this summer and Jacob Murphy may well be one of those moving out if an acceptable offer is made. If not, I don’t think anybody will be disappointed if he is still a Newcastle United squad player next season.
