Eddie Howe’s team with an excellent performance.
Six outfield changes to the team that started against Barcelona.
Eddie Howe surprised many people with his starting eleven but fully justified, as his Newcastle United team played so well.
A great goal as Tino Livramento and Joe Willock brilliantly set up Anthony Gordon.
Whilst at the other end, an excellent disciplined team display restricted Chelsea to only three efforts on target.
Newcastle United should have had the chance to double their lead, as Malick Thiaw denied a clear penalty when Reece James dragged him down from behind as a corner came in.
Somehow the on the pitch referee and the VAR both decided it wasn’t a spot-kick. You just know for sure they would both have gave it at the other end.
See for yourselves in these official extended highlights.
A very well deserved three points.
