A new report has gone into great detail on Premier League spending in the 2026 summer transfer window.
The 20 English top tier clubs spent a total of £3.56bn on new signings this summer according to Sky Sports.
The previous record was set 12 months earlier, when the then 20 Premier League clubs spent a collective £3.19bn.
The summer 2026 total exceeding that by more than £350m.
There have now been a total of 11 Premier League clubs signing players for £100m or more and five of those eleven happened this summer (Enzo Fernandez, Bradley Barcola, Morgan Rogers, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali).
The last 12 months or so have seen ALL of the six very most expensive Premier League signings happen (Alexander Isak, Enzo Fernandez, Bradley Barcola, Morgan Rogers, Florian Wirtz, Elliot Anderson).
Summer 2026 also saw a total of 20 players signed by Premier League clubs for transfer fees of £50m or more.
It is quite incredible the scale of spending by the 20 Premier League clubs.
This though becomes even more apparent when you compare the £3.56bn spent by the 20 Premier League clubs this summer with the other major European leagues.
Serie A clubs (£846m, LaLiga (£615m), Bundesliga (£507m) and Ligue 1 (£496m).
The ‘competing’ European leagues, all four of them, their total combined spending this summer adds up to £2.46bn which is more than £1bn less than the Premier League’s £3.56bn!
Another report earlier this week revealed that of the ten club with the most expensively assembled current squads in World football, eight of them were Premier League clubs!
