Just to avoid any doubt, I am talking about John Fitzgerald Kennedy here, not Joseph F…… Kinnear.
I wasn’t around back on 22 November 1963 when John F Kennedy was assassinated but everybody back in the day could remember where they were when they heard the shocking JFK news.
So what are the JFK NUFC moments for you?
As a Newcastle United fan, what are the stand out moments that are etched into your brain, where you were when you heard the news?
I have been having a think through my memories across the decades I have followed NUFC.
Down the years, these are my 10 stand out JFK moments as a Newcastle United fan, stunned when I head the news:
1978 and it is announced that the Leazes End, roof and all, is to be demolished.
1982 and England captain Kevin Keegan signs for second tier NUFC.
1988 and the genius that is 20-year-old Paul Gascoigne is going to join Spurs at the end of the 1987/88 season.
1992 and finally John Hall gets control of Newcastle United.
1992 and Kevin Keegan steps from behind the curtain and is unveiled as Newcastle United manager, at a time when the club looks doomed to be dropping into the third tier.
1996 and Alan Shearer signs.
1997 and Kevin Keegan resigns as manager.
2007 and Mike Ashley buys the club.
2021 and Mike Ashley sells the club.
2026 and news that Kevin Keegan has died.
