Seung-soo Park made it four direct goal involvements in his last six Newcastle United Under 21 appearances.
Friday night at Whitley Park the 18 year old beat a couple of players to set Sean Neave up for his 13th goal of the season for the NUFC Under 21s.
Then a brilliant curling effort from Seung-soo Park himself, confirmed the 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers Under 21s.
The South Korean teenager has made impressive progress in a short space of time, arriving at such a young age into a completely different environment, on and off the pitch.
Seung-soo Park has already displayed some outrageous skills (see the clip below) on numerous occasions since arriving on Tyneside and is very keen to make rapid progress.
Set to turn 19 on Tuesday, the teenager telling official Newcastle United media after Friday night’s goal and assist: “I’m so proud of the team. Every day in training we are working so hard and it’s perfect. I am so happy but I want more and more practice everyday in training. I hope I can quickly play in the first team.”
The left winger is very happy with that rapid progress but knows he still has further to go, if he is to realise his ambitions: “Physically, I think when I first came I was here (gestures low), now I am here (gestures slightly higher) but I need to be here (gestures even higher) like Anthony Gordon. I feel better and I am getting better [both physically and mentally].”
I have to admit, I thought that when Newcastle United signed Seung-soo Park in the summer, it was all about getting some extra media coverage for the pre-season trip that saw United play in South Korea.
The 18 year old winger signed from a second tier club in South Korea and added to the travelling NUFC squad on the trip.
However, the limited first team chances Seung-soo Park got in pre-season (pictured below in the friendly against Espanyol), suggested that this was a promising teenager with very obvious ability.
Then having now become a regular for the United Under 21s I am liking what I see even more.
Back in October, Seung-soo Park showed outrageous skill and passing ability when the Newcastle United Under 21s defeated the Boston United first team 3-1 in the National League Cup, then a week later the NUFC kids were playing away against the League One Mansfield Town first team in the Vertu Trophy.
Seung-soo Park delivered the fourth minute corner that led to the opening goal, then after Mansfield Town turned it around to 2-1, it was the 18 year old South Korean starlet who in the dying seconds of the match, produced an absolutely stunning pass (watch it at 1.01 on the highlights below) to play in Charlie McArthur to score a last gasp equaliser via a slight deflection off a defender. Seung-soo Park also amongst the five Newcastle United U21 players who all scored to get a 5-3 penalty shootout win, with Sean Neave, Sam Alabi, Joe Brayson and Charlie McArthur also successful (The Mansfield Town penalty fail is also worth a look in these highlights!).
Match highlights after Mansfield Town 2 Newcastle United U21s 2 (NUFC win penalty shootout 5-3):
As Seung-soo Park admits himself, he still has to progress further. However, this is clearly an exciting teenager United have brought in.
