A lot of free agents after the end of the 2025/26 season and the big question is whether Newcastle United should be pursuing any of them?
The official Premier League site have done a feature, covering dozens of these players set to leave their English top tier clubs at the end of June 2026.
I have picked out the more interesting ones.
The ones that Newcastle United could/should be potentially interested in.
Naturally, so many of these free agents, it is very obvious why they are shortly to be without a club. With others though…?
As Newcastle United fans would you like our club to show interest in any of these? Some of these players would be more easily achievable than others…
Some of the free agents picked out by the official Premier League site and what they have had to say about them:
Goalkeepers
Illan Meslier (Now aged 26)
Meslier was first-choice goalkeeper for Leeds United as they returned to the Premier League last summer. However, the Frenchman dropped behind Lucas Perri and Karl Darlow in the pecking order under manager Daniel Farke. As such, he’s been allowed to run down his contract in Yorkshire.
Defenders
Ibrahima Konate (Now aged 27)
Liverpool have confirmed that Konate will leave the club when his contract expires. There was a belief that both parties would come to an agreement over a new deal. However, Konate departs as a free agent. He won’t be short of suitors both at home and abroad, with a move to Real Madrid mooted.
John Stones (Now aged 32)
After 10 years at the Etihad Stadium, Stones exits Man City as a six-time champion this summer. Injuries restricted the 32-year-old to a reduced role last season. He’ll hope to showcase his talent to the watching world for England at FIFA World Cup 2026.
Joel Veltman (Now aged 34)
Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off a coup when they landed Veltman from Ajax in 2020, and the Dutchman has proven a hugely effective squad player for the Seagulls in recent seasons.
Midfield
Yves Bissouma (Now aged 29)
There was a period during the opening weeks of Ange Postecoglou’s tenure in 2023/24 when Bissouma was one of the best defensive midfielders in the league. But he only made 11 appearances last season and is set for pastures new.
Casemiro (Now aged 34)
Casemiro leaves Manchester United after a successful spell, having joined from Real Madrid. The Brazilian helped the club win the EFL Cup in his first season and the FA Cup in his second. And having played an instrumental role in returning the club to the UEFA Champions League next season, fans gave him a fond farewell.
Daichi Kamada (Now aged 29)
Kamada became Crystal Palace’s first ever Japanese player when he moved to the Eagles in 2024, reuniting with Oliver Glasner after their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt. After his key role for the south London side, Palace have offered the 29-year-old a new contract. But as it stands he is free to choose a new club – like Glasner.
Attackers
Mohamed Salah (Now aged 33)
The 33-year-old will be one of the most valuable free agents on the market after nine sensational years at Liverpool. Salah departs as the fourth-highest Premier League goalscorer of all time, with 193 strikes, and the joint sixth-best player for assists, with 94. He won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, four Golden Boots and two Premier League Player of the Season awards.
Jadon Sancho (Now aged 26)
It’s fair to say Sancho’s 2021 move to Man Utd didn’t pan out as hoped. The English winger went on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and, most recently, Aston Villa. Sancho showed glimpses of his talent at Villa Park, which may convince suitors to give him another shot.
Bernardo Silva (Now aged 31)
Pep Guardiola’s trusted lieutenant during his time at Man City, Silva cemented his legacy as a club legend during a trophy-laden nine years at the Etihad Stadium. The 31-year-old will decide his future after the World Cup, with a move to LaLiga heavily reported. The Portugal star won’t struggle to find his next club, that’s for sure.
Harry Wilson (Now aged 29)
The 2025/26 Premier League season was Wilson’s most prolific for Fulham. The Wales international was directly involved in 17 league goals for the club, scoring 10 times in the process, as the west London side enjoyed another fine top-flight campaign. He’s been offered a new deal by Fulham, and understandably so.
