Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson has been talking about Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle.
The pair having worked together previously at RB Salzburg.
Brenden Aaronson arrived at the Austrian club from Philadelphia Union in January 2021.
Matthias Jaissle then joined him there in summer 2021.
In their one season together, RB Salzburg won the league and cup double in Austria.
Summer 2022 saw Brenden Aaronson move to Leeds United and then a year later Matthias Jaissle moved to Al-Ahli in summer 2023.
Now the pair face each other at Elland Road tonight.
Brenden Aaronson telling official Leeds United media: “I have played under their coach [Matthias Jaissle] before at Salzburg so I know the way that they are going to play, with a lot of intensity and a lot of high pressing because they want to play forward. It is going to be a very physical game. I think he is very similar to Daniel [Farke] in the sense of wanting to be on the front foot, wanting the whole team to be working extremely hard against the ball and with the ball. I had a great season in Salzburg under him and I enjoyed it. There are definitely a lot of similarities between them.”
Leeds United won their first Premier League game of the season with an 88th minute winner against Forest, then 1-1 draws with both Brentford and Brighton.
That then followed by a 6-3 hammering at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
Brenden Aaronson reflecting: “I think it has been a fantastic start to the season. The mentality of the group has been really, really good, going away to really tough away games at Nottingham Forest and Brighton and getting two good results. At home against Brentford, we had another good result too. I think that we have had a great start to the season and we need to keep going like this, of course, because we want to finish as high as we can. I think that this group can accomplish anything. I think that just shows the mentality of the group and how we are playing at the moment!”
